How to have even MORE fun in the Lake District!

In a field behind Limefitt Park there are the remains of an old ski lift.

In the 60′s and 70′s people used to grass ski there.

With global warming and the parlous state of the pound against the Euro maybe there is a HUGE opportunity here for South Lakeland Parks to invest a couple of hundred squid into getting the lift working again and creating a fantastic new facility!

Is it fun? Looks like it if this video is anything to go by

I grass skied here back in the 70s, aged about 12, it was fantastic fun, why did the slope and lift close? Such a shame, if only some enterprising person would re-open it.

I spent a fantastic afternoon skiing down the slope when 13 or 14, in 1984 or 85. I was a natural and raced the instructor down in late afternoon, only just losing. I went back in 1987 and although it was still brilliant, I was no longer a natural! Popped in this easter looking for the ski slope. I hope it reopens for my kids.
