This afternoon I took Suki and the new camera up Applethwaite Fell for a walk. We timed it well as we didn’t get rained on, but there is still plenty of water around. You can see the damage to the paths that the water has caused, gouging out deep channels as it flowed down hill. (Focus not great on this picture is it?)

Channels gouged by the floods
Remembering that Martin (@cumbrialivetv), who I met at the Tweetup in Bowness last week had mentioned the pink house in Troutbeck I took a shot across the valley:

The Pink House - Troutbeck
I tried a longer exposure when snapping this waterfall to try to get the idea of movement in the water,

Waterfall
but it doesn’t look a LOT different from the one I took using auto settings
(I still have an awful lot to learn about my digital SLR.)
It was getting quite dark by the time I got back, and on the way down I took this picture of The Mortal Man where Linda & I are going for my dinner tonight.

The Mortal Man
In case you are wondering it’s the pinprick of light in the middle of the picture in the line of buildings below the cloud
