Wherever you to, you’ll see visitors and [...] The Mortal Man has now lost its “The Mortal Man Experience” sign – the brainchild of the last owner who seemed to be intent on trying to fill it with vodka and champagne cocktail slurping yuppies. That didn’t work did it ? Now that it’s been turned back into a grand Lake District pub [...] The Brown Horse, Winster Lakeland Radio 100.1 and 100.8 FM Well, a few weeks back I entered a competition on Lakeland Radio, the prize for which was lunch for two at the Brown Horse at Winster. No one was more surprised than me to get Yakkers on the end of my mobile [...] Taking advantage of the fine weather we decided to head out to Orrest Head. One of the beauties of Limefitt Park is the fact that you can do so many fantastic walks straight from the front door of your pine lodge’s front door. We set out on a 7 mile walk that took us [...] So, after a two year stint, during which the old owners tried to turn this traditional old pub/hotel into a gastro guest house monstrosity, things have finally returned to the way they should be! Last night we went up to try out the pub again and I am really happy to say that things [...] We have been told that The Mortal Man in Troutbeck is reopening. Wahey! This pub is in a beautiful old building in Troutbeck and has magnificent views from it’s beer garden. Over the last 2 years or so the reputation of this place took a dive as the last, now thankfully departed, [...] It’s been a bit mixed weather-wise this week, and as I type this I am looking out at a mizzle of rain drifting across the Troutbeck valley. It’s still lovely though:-) We’ve had Troutbeck in cloud and we’ve had Troutbeck – Just 1 cloud Fortunately the weather was lovely on Bank Holiday [...] It’s been a bit blowy up here today, but it was great to get Suki out for a decent walk. Heading into the wind along the path by Dubbs reservoir certainly cleared out the cobwebs, although Suki did find something absolutely atrocious smelling to roll in (fox pooh?) – she smelt totally minging when [...] |
