Today at 2 pm they are going to be flying hawks here at Limefitt Park in Troutbeck You can see some of these beauties. Falconry at Limefitt Park Midnight
and my favourite, thomas the American Kestrel Thomas Oh yes – and there’s free pony trekking for the kids too! [...] So today South Lakeland Parks hosted an inter-park golf competition. Windermere golf club has to be one of the most beautiful golf courses in the country. The view of the Langdales even on a hazy and humid day like today is worth the green fee!
Windermere Golf Club As well as the beautiful scenery [...] So yesterday it was hotter in the Lake District than it was in Corfu. We woke this morning to another gorgeous day. Dappled sunlight coming in through the blinds and birds twittering outside. Limefitt Park – Troutbeck Lodges We had breakfast on the deck and saw a deer saunter by. Deer Perhaps [...] We’ve just heard that the Lake District Pony Trekking centre is going to reopen at the end of this month! This used to be a very popular local facility with our guests, but it closed temporarily last year. We are really glad that it is returning (and not only because of the lovely horses that they are [...] Over the time I’ve been coming to the Lakes seeing a buzzard soaring overhead has gone from being a rare treat to something more commonplace. Having said that, seeing one stalling on a thermal overhead is still a magical thing. Today, at the end of my walk as I approached Limefitt Park I saw a [...] Fantastic news this morning that Dubbs Reservoir, between Ings and Troutbeck, on the fell side just above our Lake District pine lodges has been reborn as a haven for wildlife. Now after [...] Our on site pub, The Haybarn, had fallen a bit in our estimation in the recent past. We started to get some critical comments in the Visitors’ books in all 3 of our lodges about the welcome and my own experiences were less than wonderful. I was reminded of this today when I came across this gate which looked up at the perfect blue sky that made walking today such a perfect Lake District experience.
