Our on site pub, The Haybarn, had fallen a bit in our estimation in the recent past. We started to get some critical comments in the Visitors’ books in all 3 of our lodges about the welcome and my own experiences were less than wonderful. I was reminded of this today when I came across this gate which looked up at the perfect blue sky that made walking today such a perfect Lake District experience. This morning at about 8 a.m. it was pretty wet and cloudy, but the wonderful thing about the Lake District is that the scenery is still so dramatic even when it’s wet, and the changing seasons mean that there is always a different combination of colours to take your breath away. Applethwaite Fell [...] I took Suki for a walk through the mizzle this afternoon. As we were walking down past Troutbeck Church I heard a frantic screeching coming from the copse over the road and saw what looked like a buzzrd flying down to the beck. We crossed over in time to see a woodpecker escape from the [...] We sometimes get asked where Limefitt Park is and what sort of setting it is in. Here are two photos taken from Troutbeck and from our recent walk up Wansfell Pike which will give you some idea of the beautiful setting it is in. It’ a lovely crisp autumn morning here in Troutbeck. The leaves are turning and this tree looked stunning in the early morning light as the sun crested Applethwaite Fell.
