This week I tried out one of the new activities that have recently taken off in the Lake District – Electric Cycling. The ones with the lower [...] Yesterday Tom went to the Windermere Air Festival with friends and we took the opportunity to do our favourite walk around Dubbs reservoir.. We do this walk a lot but we never get tired of it as there is always something new to make it interesting. As we climbed up from Limefitt Park the [...] We are just 3 miles from Ambleside, Windermere and Bowness but we are in the delightful Troutbeck valley – a world away from the bustle of the major towns. There is some fantastic walking that you can do straight from the lodge door and we even provide downloadable GPS maps to help you [...] Today at 2 pm they are going to be flying hawks here at Limefitt Park in Troutbeck You can see some of these beauties. and my favourite, thomas the American Kestrel Thomas Oh yes – and there’s free pony trekking for the kids [...] So today South Lakeland Parks hosted an inter-park golf competition. Windermere golf club has to be one of the most beautiful golf courses in the country. The view of the Langdales even on a hazy and humid day like today is worth the green fee!

Dappled sunlight coming in through the blinds and birds twittering outside. Limefitt Park – Troutbeck Lodges We had breakfast on the deck and saw a deer saunter by.
We’ve just heard that the Lake District Pony Trekking centre is going to reopen at the end of this month! This used to be a very popular local facility with our guests, but it closed temporarily last year. We are really glad that it is returning (and not only because of the lovely horses [...] Over the time I’ve been coming to the Lakes seeing a buzzard soaring overhead has gone from being a rare treat to something more commonplace. Having said that, seeing one stalling on a thermal overhead is still a magical thing. Today, at the end of my walk as I approached Limefitt Park I saw [...] Fantastic news this morning that Dubbs Reservoir, between Ings and Troutbeck, on the fell side just above our Lake District pine lodges has been reborn as a haven for wildlife.
