We went to the Mortal Man last night for a family dinner. For a change we sat in the restaurant rather than the bar and we enjoyed this view from the table.

The Mortal Man has now lost its “The Mortal Man Experience” sign – the brainchild of the last owner who seemed to be intent on trying to fill it with vodka and champagne cocktail slurping yuppies. That didn’t work did it ?

So, after a two year stint, during which the old owners tried to turn this traditional old pub/hotel into a gastro guest house monstrosity, things have finally returned to the way they should be!

This pub is in a beautiful old building in Troutbeck and has magnificent views from it’s beer garden.

Over the last 2 years or so the reputation of this place took a dive as the last, now thankfully departed, [...]

Walking with the wind in your face / sailing close to it
